Product Overview:

Helping to ensure the financial viability of suppliers

“Funding pressures continue to be an area of concern for local authorities” (Source: Local Government New Zealand, Issue 70, Dec 2005).

Local Government in New Zealand now has access to a new on-line system to protect against the risks of procuring goods and services from companies facing financial distress. By providing as few as 12 numbers from the financials of a prospective supplier, the system performs a series of advanced financial diagnostics to provide Local Government managers with confidence and peace of mind in just a few minutes.

For as little as NZ$149 Local Government can be assured as to the credit quality and financial viability of any present or future supplier for the duration of the contractual engagement. This significantly strengthens the procurement process, and reduces the risk of delay, poor workmanship, and non-delivery from Government providers facing financial pressure.

Local Government expenditure is becoming an area of increasing focus and attention. As Government continues to drive increases in both transparency and probity, it is becoming more important that funds are spent wisely. It is not just about getting the lowest price from a supplier – it is also important to ensure, as far as possible, that the supplier has the financial ability to deliver the goods and services.

The New Zealand Treasury indicated in its December 2005 update that it expects the economy to slow to 1.7% by March 2007 (Source: Half Year Economic & Fiscal Update 2005, Dec 2005). As the economy slows, it becomes more likely that suppliers will experience cashflow issues which, as empirical evidence has shown, remain the prime source of company failure. Therefore it becomes even more important that Local Government carry out appropriate due diligence on suppliers, including obtaining a check on the company’s financial health.

About the Corporate ScoreCard Group:

Financial Analysis | Corporate Valuation | Risk Management

The Corporate ScoreCard Group (CSG) is an independent financial services firm providing valued information and advice to improve the corporate performance, shareholder value and risk management capabilities of our clients. Over the past 18 years CSG has worked extensively with banking institutions, insurance companies, the manufacturing and construction industries and for all levels of Government.

The Corporate ScoreCard Group maintains a corporate financial bureau database for Australian and New Zealand organisations, ensuring the highest levels of data integrity, accuracy and quality. This database contains tens of thousands of financial statement data as analysed and entered by our team of Chartered Accountants. The ScoreCard team utilises a series of advanced diagnostic systems to assess and evaluate corporate performance, shareholder value and financial risk.

These services are provided so that Principals can be satisfied that their potential business partner or contractual obligator is and remains financially sound throughout the duration of a contract. This significantly strengthens the procurement process, and is equally important in a commercial leasing context where prime and credit worthy tenants can significantly increase the value of the whole property.

The credit rating process has been developed exclusively by the Corporate ScoreCard Group and is based on significant research and development over the past 20 years using countless amounts of actual financial data, of both active and defaulting public and private companies. The credit ratings produced are comparable to the major international rating agencies and have been externally validated for accuracy.

Local Government Online has negotiated a special discounted rate for members to utilise Corporate Score Card’s online credit solutions delivery platform. In this way the credit rating process is not intrusive, as it only requires basic data from an organisation’s financial statements. The process can be undertaken remotely by you in your office and at your own convenience for as little as NZ$149 per credit assessment.
