The 2012 ALGIM GIS Symposium will be held on 2 & 3 April 2012 at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, Wellington.

This event has become an annual feature on the ALGIM calendar after the success of the Inaugural GIS Symposium in 2011.The ALGIM GIS Symposium is a vendor-neutral event, and the only one in New Zealand specifically tailored for local government.
The Symposium will also offer the opportunity to meet and discuss new and improved technologies within the sector with over 10 GIS-specific organisations exhibiting and being represented at the event.

THE LOGISTICS OF NATURAL DISASTER RECOVERY
Date: 5 – 7 MARCH 2012
The conference is being held over three days from 5 to 7 March 2012. The conference format combines two days of intense interaction at the Amora Hotel in Wellington with a third, more practically focused day in Christchurch, which includes an extensive guided study tour of Christchurch City Centre and environs. A charter flight between Wellington and Christchurch has been arranged for delegates who register for the full three days.
Natural Disasters, whether an earthquake in Christchurch or a major flood in Queensland, place huge demands on logistics. This conference aims to acquaint delegates with many of the lessons that have been learnt from these two natural disasters, what worked well and what did not work so well, in order that planning and preparation for future natural disasters can be of an even higher quality than hitherto.
